Levels of Lounge Wear
As reality sets in that we are staying home alot more, brands have noticed and launched an all out assault on their current promotion of Lounge Wear. What is Lounge Wear you might ask….well lounge wear is a step above what you typically wear to clean or cook dinner on a Saturday. LoungeWear is NOT the pair of sweats with a hole in the bottom we’ve been wearing to binge watch the latest Netflix with a bottle of wine. Lounge wear is what we wear during our zoom facial on Self Care Saturdays. Now can you still wear your favorite sweats…sure but why? We need to normalize feeling good for ourselves everyday. We need to normalize our luxury in comfort. Lounge wear allows you to have company, be cute, and feel comfortable. Tap into your femininity with these new lounge collections that are out there.
ASOS — warm and comfy
THE LEVELS OF LOUNGE WEAR —- I believe with my entire being that there is an outfit for every occasion. And the same rings true for lounge wear. Level 1 - Matching Seats. These are the your basic matching sets. Everyone is selling them. My favorites can be found at Target, Zara, or even Jluxlabel. Now you might be thinking we all have sweatpants with matching tops that we’ve been wearing for years. But these sets are knit or made with plush cotton. Neutral colors are the new wave, so these sets are brown, beige, or even a sage green. They can be paired with heels for and easy brunch look or sneakers for an easy road trip option. A side note about heels with matching sets….heels are worn with joggers not loose sweats. You know it’s a jogger because it is fitted at both the ankle and the thigh. Regular loose sweats can work but does not give the same sleek chic effect you are ultimately reaching for.
Level 2 — Comfortable and Cute I once had a girlfriend of mine call in a panic because the link was coming over and she had no idea what to wear. My easiest response was leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. Something simple to accentuate her assets yet allow her to feel comfortable in her home with company. When entertaining a suitor for Netflix or just chill or stay at home date nights …..it is imperative to a) be comfortable b) be confident c) be enticing. People are visual. You want to look like you put effort without actually having to. Enters the comfortable and cute collection. These sets have elastic, crop tops, and my favorite high waists. My suggested shopping platforms for these sets are ASOS, Misguided, PrettyLittleThing, and SKIMS. With these sets you want to be aware of your material. Its may be tight so you don’t want to choose anything that could be potentially itchy or not lasting after laundry.
Level 3 — Ready for Work and Wine I, as many of you, have been working form home and making an entire career through zoom. In the beginning I was doing so “well” I was actually getting dressed for work, top and bottom. I still needed to feel like I was leaving home. I am not sure when that faded buuuut, I’m over it. I am not ready to go outside to work but I am also uninterested in being suited and booted just to share my shoulders. Still too dedicated to my aesthetic to try the “business on the top and party on the bottom” theory, I need to feel like I am at work. I have recently found comfort in the luxury level of lounge wear. These are sets that typically come in threes and present very well for mixed company, wine with the girls, and zoom meetings before and after lunch. My personal favorite sets can be found at SKIMS, FashionNova, and @NicholLynel. For the sake of always being transparent, I am short so I did have to get the pants tailored and I will be honest that the crotch area is not always flattering but I am warm, cozy, and ready for work.

LoungeWear is interchangeable. Feel free to fill in the levels that work for you. I will always preach comfort before anything else. When choosing your sets choose based on comfort and confidence. Elastic is our friend, I myself have clearly over embraced it. Try prints, explore color, and be prepared for whatever the occasion.
